This may be the worst thing CAIR ever did - properly handled by Anti-CAIRReader comment on item: Why Is CAIR Suing Anti-CAIR? Submitted by jeff (United States), Apr 9, 2004 at 08:45 I'm not a lawyer, but I used to supervise law suit defenses for two different American insurance companies.May I make a suggestion or two, which you are free to ignore (as I'm not the one being sued, obviously): 1) CAIR has put itself in the position to be absolutely "reamed out" by the discovery process allowed under federal and state laws. You will have wide-ranging access to all of CAIR's internal documents (as they will have to yours, incidentally) and any attempt to hide or destroy them could get them into big-time legal trouble. As the defendant in this lawsuit, only YOU can pursue this discovery process, not me, not your friends, not any other parties sympathetic to your cause. Only you. 2) You will be receiving financial (and moral) support from many sources, but the most important next step for you is to find the best lawyer you can find - aggressive, smart and someone who believes in your cause. (Personally, I have supervised strong-willed and weak-willed defense attorneys. The strong-willed ones can be annoying as heck, but the weak-willed attornies will usually lose your case.) To put it a different way, you may not want to retain your kindly family lawyer or that inexperienced, young and inexpensive attorney down the block from your house. 3) Finally, I suggest that you almost immediately counter-sue CAIR!!! Charge them with libel, slander, malicious use of lawsuits, almost whatever! This will allow you to have some control on when and if this legal case settles. Right now, they can withdraw their lawsuit against you and you will lose the "moral high ground" if you have to file a fresh lawsuit against them. This way, your lawsuit against them is merely a sensible counter-offensive against their "greedy, vindictive" initial lawsuit against you. Trust me, a counter-suit will give you more control and allow you to recieve more sympathy from the public, a jury and even the judge. If I can help in any way, please e-mail me or call me at 608-776-2320. Best of luck! Sincerely, Jeff Duff
