Slavery and the thoughts that perpetuate it.Reader comment on item: Slave-Holding Muslim Immigrants in the West Submitted by Psywolf (United States), Jan 1, 2009 at 15:00 I read with interest this story and some of the comments that have been given on it. Slavery has always been perpetrated on those that consider themselves above such duties as housecleaning and the like. You can go into the bible and see that slavery was available and in use even during that time period of history. Slavery is perpetuated because people think that once they reach a certain socio-economic part of the ladder that the rules no longer apply to them. Because of this thought process and because they care nothing for the humans that they enslave they get away with it. I do not agree with the way that America prospered as a country during its birth. I do not think that blacks should be greatful for the slvery and horror that they endured including the use of cocaine so that they would work even longer hours to make the plantation owner more prosperous. However all that aside bringing history into an argument does not change what transpires today. While there was a contract that was signed in a foreign country under foreign laws that made it possible for the child in question to be in servitude to these people. I do not think that these people would actually agree to having their child living in the dark even if she did live in a garage that was bigger then the home her family lived in. When you bring a child to America and force that child to live in servitude and do not provide the basic amenities that any human has the right to have which is clothes, food and a shelter with working facilities and lights then you need to be placed in a position where you as the holder of that child experience the exact same thing. Prison can approximate it but will never fully give it because of our own laws. When this couple brought this child to America they broke the laws of the U.S. when anyone is brought to America and is treated inhumanely then the law has been broken. It does not matter if it happened in past history or current history. It should not ever happen at all. For those of you that wonder what race I am........well lets just say that my race ran the Americas long before any settler decided to come to America including Eric the Viking.
