re:Turkish Connection to Russian SlavesReader comment on item: Slave-Holding Muslim Immigrants in the West Submitted by Mark Rcca (United States), Jul 15, 2013 at 05:52 It's a known scam. I've spoken to a number of students from Russia that fell into this trap. They come over with a summer work visa for the first time to the U.S., and end up in a complete dump of a place, washing dishes and doing other menial labor. You can't really call it "slavery" because they are not held there by force, they can leave any time; their passports are ilegally withheld by their employer, creating an impression that they can't leave; but they can go to their embassies for new ones. Eventually they get to know their way around and leave the dump employer, but this takes some time.
