Re: From Whence the Brutality?Reader comment on item: Slave-Holding Muslim Immigrants in the West Submitted by Anon (United States), May 22, 2022 at 22:51 I liked the response from Dr Pipes which gives a glimpse of his honest and unbiased outlook on these issues which is very welcome in the times we live in. On the subject of slavery, there is no doubt it is an evil practice in all contexts. However slavery is unsustainable in a modern Western context compared to in the Islamic context. Saudi Arabia outlawed slavery as recently as 1962. ISIS recruits (many of them muslims who grew up in Western countries) practiced slavery when ISIS was flourishing briefly. Growing up in a Western country is no anti-dote to some of these vile tendencies found in the Islamic world.
