Winning? Who's winning?Reader comment on item: Anti-Israel Terror Backfires Submitted by Alexander M. Berlin (Canada), Apr 21, 2004 at 18:24 A democracy in Israel and Iraq is the knell of death to many present regimes in the area. It is the beginning of the end of the totalitarian's rule. And in this, secular Syria and religious Iran have a common cause. These regimes will not accept this creeping democratization with open arms. They will fight it tooth and nail. Unless they are destroyed or severely damaged, and their wealth is taken from them, they will fight. At present, this war has an aura of abnormality. The ones who wage this war, fight on someone elses soil. They themselves are untouched, immune. These are the conditions that created the disaster of Vietnam. If this will not change, we have lost this war. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
