Just some advertising........Reader comment on item: Public Ads for Islam in the West Submitted by Kit B (United States), Mar 8, 2009 at 17:54 Well aren't we just too politically correct? Are people thinking this is just advertising? This is a modern version of what religion in most of it's forms has done for millinenia. It would seem that Islam can step into the 21st century, when it suits their needs. That Islam is the fastest growing religion is certainly borne out through current numbers in Russia and China. But the difference is, this religion is looking for more than converts, they are as they have told us, looking to convert the world. In the west we strive for a separation of church and state, a concept unknown to the Islamist, as the state and religion are one in the same. This may in fact not allow us to see the rapidly moving upward number of converts as a threat. So while we attempt to be ever viligent in our efforts to be open and accepting of all divergent ideas, are we smiling as the beast attempts to consume us? Perhaps for the long term safety of all of world communities that choose to believe or worship differently then the laws of Islam would allow, we should all think back to a not so long ago past. Those who did not give way to dogmas of the Catholic Church were burned at the stake, those who were considered unacceptable to the dictates of the Nazi Regime were led to concentration camps, not just Jews, but all those who did not conform. During the growth of the USSR and China any and all religions were banned lest they be in opposition to voice of the government. It is said that those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it, perhaps knowing is not enough.
