Reality Check

Dear Fellow Greeks,

I am a Greek, a speaker of Hebrew, someone with experience living in Israel and one with considerable exposure to Jewish culture.

I believe to be qualified in making comments about both cultures. We Greeks are a smart people but we have two major flaws. We are not technically savvy and we are small-minded. Israelis are very technically savvy and they think BIG. Also, they have much better attitudes towards money and wealth. They also understand world events better than anyone and are behind many transformative revolutions. We Greeks are not in touch with our spiritual roots and our culture has become too Arabic. When anti-Semitic feelings arise anywhere it is because Jews are right and everyone else is wrong. So anti-Semitism is resentment and not due to wrong doing on the part of the Jews.

When some Greeks say that Greece can defeat Israel it is out of pure nationalistic ego. Israel ranks 4 as a world military power. Israel could defeat India. Israel can probably defeat Britain. Do you really believe Greece can defeat Israel even when only conventional force is considered?

Although I don't know as much about Turkey as I do about Israel, I know that the Turkish Airforce operates 240 F-16s and is about to acquire 116 F-35s! We only have 180 F-16s, and fly a few Mirage 2000s. How on earth are we going to defeat Turkey - a nation 7 Times more populous than Greece with 3 Times as many tanks and a navy as strong or stronger than ours? Both Israel and Turkey have the capability to manufacture all military hardware whereas ours is limited to tanks, AUVs and parts.

You are consistenly underestimating the capability of Israel and Turkey because you are making the Strawman fallacy.
