Büyük you are mistakenReader comment on item: A New Axis: The Emerging Turkish-Israeli Entente Submitted by David (United States), Mar 19, 2006 at 09:06 "PS: Greece has always been anti-semitic. Try reading Mark Mazowers Thessaloniki. While the Ottomans were protecting the sefardic Jewish minority in Thessaloniki, after 1922 Greece started expelling them which led to the death of 45.000 Jews from Greece in Auschwitz! Greece never did anything to stop this horrible event. And this is just a recent example."I supbmit you have not actually read Mazowers Salonica. it was the Turks who killed the orignal Jewish population of Salonika. According to Mazower the greeks never expelled any Jews in 1922 or after. As far as Aushwitz, the Greeks fought the Germans while Turkey was neutral and even was trading with them and cooperating. Greece didn't stop the event becase it was occupied and something like 600,000 Greeks were killed resisting a -- distiction Turkey does not have. Antisemitism in Turkey today is much more virulent than Greece. How many synagogues are bombed in Greece? none. plenty of Jews being killed in Turkey.
