Naive leftistsReader comment on item: The Left ♥ CAIR, MPAC, et al. Submitted by Abhi (United States), May 26, 2009 at 23:34 Dear Dr Pipes: It is well known that muslim minorities in all progressive societies of the world depend on the leftist people/politicians and media to advance their agenda. That is no surprise. It is the naivete of the left that surprises me. First, Muslims are no friends of the left. There is no example in the world where Islamic fundamentalists tolerated a leftist movement in an Islamic country (I will appreciate if any readers of this message post a counter example to what I said). Second, fundamentalist Islam stands against everything that left typically stands for. For example, in every progressive society the leftist parties stand for the rights of native and immigrant minorities. In Islamic socities persecuting minorities is a routine tradition (consider the case of the Shia minority in Sunni Iraq or Kurdish minority in Turkey). Similarly, leftist movements in most countries end up colliding against the religious movements in that country. Now imagine what will majority islamists will do to leftists in a nation if the leftists oppose Islam? Islamists have a reason to support the left. The left supports Islamists due to its stupidity.
