Regarding Iran in Latin AmericaReader comment on item: The Left ♥ CAIR, MPAC, et al. Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Jun 2, 2009 at 08:26 There are certain reasons behind these recent developments regarding Iran and Venezuela. 1. Most latin american people are certainly neither happy nor comfortable with US hegemony in the region. Latinos dislike certain US foreign policies regarding Latin America like Monroce doctrine. They want freedom from US hegemony so no wonder they support Iran in this regard. 2. The anti-Americanism in Latin America is not only by the leftists but apart from certain desecendents of the colonists from former european powers virtually no one in Latin America likes US hegemony in the region. 3. Because of these above reasons I believe Latin America will be continuously hostile to American hegemony in this century regardless of Iran or not.
