Belief in Jesus Christ is the Basis of Every True Christian's ExplanationReader comment on item: The Middle Eastern Cold War Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Jun 29, 2009 at 13:28 Disbelief may not always be a result of arrogance or pride, but it can usually be traced to disobedience of some form or another to a higher rule of authority. And yes, there will always be the limitation of human understanding to things one sees in this world, and of the next; which can be traced to unbelief as well. It is in the very nature of mankind to doubt and have questions, traceable to the beginnings we read of in the Hebrew Holy Bible, in the garden of Eden. Were not doubts and questions the very things Eve introduced into the human realm of insecurity, something mortal humans have been subject to ever since? Let us consider the first question of the previous post: why does God choose to do something in a particular way and not differently? Why, indeed; everyone has asked at one time or another, even this reader, decades ago? In ambiguity, according to the human frame of reference, we are given the Biblical reference of Isaiah 55, verses 8) For My thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways My ways, says the LORD; and 9) For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. Essentially, we are being told in pragmatic terms that we cannot understand the ways of Almighty God. That being so, however, Almighty God has taken the time and effort to bring revelation of Who He is and What He wants us to know about Him, and the life we are living under His provisions. We must remember, He is the Creator and author of all things, and the only way to gain insight and understanding, one should think, is to follow His rulebook, the Holy Bible, to clear some things up. Human suffering is the least understood circumstance of life if we are to think a loving God would not impose persecutions and humiliations on mankind for no reason, right? Most would initially agree, unless there is something that same Almighty God would reveal to show why. Here we can reference the Book of Job in the Holy Bible, where the worst of the fears and insecurities that might befall an individual come to pass in Job's life. We read where the tribulation of losing almost the entire family, an entire fortune and health in very short time, were accomplished at a time in Job's prosperity, all because the LORD allowed it to be so to prove a point: that an Almighty God is in complete charge at all times and there is only faith in Him to do the right thing that will get a believer through the tough times. If life were easy all the time, then disobedience to Almighty God would also be easy. Why are some things hard to take? The value of a lesson lightly learned is lightly esteemed. The question of efficacy (or efficiency?) of faith is not its Achilles heel, but the human predisposition to doubting it is. And there can be reasons for such doubt on a human level. Thus, in the unsearchable mind of Almighty God we are given His revelation, the Hebrew Holy Bible (we highlight the Hebrew name for it is written- salvations is of the Jews -just as Jesus is the Jewish Messiah). In it is the wisdom of Almighty God, reaching from heaven to human hearts (the one place of spiritual intersection), to show the need for Him in each person's life, and revealing the one way He has devised to overcome the human predisposition to doubt, through Jesus Christ. Now much has been made of the difficult situation that Jesus Christ, being a man, cannot also be Almighty God. Yet one way one might think this out would be to consider a biologically hazardous disease infecting a human and being contained in a quarantined room, and the Doctor does not enter that room except by entering into a separation suit in order to administer medical aid. So it is that the Great Physician interfaced with His creation to reveal the mysteries necessary for mankind to believe that there IS a loving Almighty God, and He sent His Son to die on the cross for the redemption of those who have faith in Him through Jesus Christ. Now, from before time on earth, evil departed from Almighty God, to war with Him on earth for the souls of His creation. Every tool, both anti-spiritual and mortal, are employed to deliver the evil message that disbelief is the only way to shed Almighty God's rule over mankind. In this, there is then the battle over the Truth of the Holy Bible, in which the truth of Jesus Christ is revealed to be the only way to regain a relationship with Almighty God, and to obtain eternal life through believing Jesus Christ as our Savior. Why does an eternal, loving Almighty God tolerate such evil as we see in the world today? Was that not Buddha's question? The only answer that satisfies the burning desire of wanting to know is that the Holy Bible tells us He does so to show His mercy and goodness, His love through the Person of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit, and how badly we need Him in our lives to deal with such evil. We have no human power to deal with evil, except by placing our trust in Him to do the right thing every time, all the time. And by believing that Jesus Christ appeared in human form to identify with His creation, we know His love; so that in His dying for the sins of a believing individual, there can be no doubt that Jesus Christ understands the suffering humans must endure in this life. Then there is the rewarding of that belief with eternal life, where there is no more suffering to interfere with our relationship to Almighty God. That is the very basis of the true Christian's hope, and this Christian's explanation. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
