Getting more subtle?Reader comment on item: "ISNA Rejects All Expressions of Racism and Bigotry" Submitted by B.N.Gururaj (India), Jul 17, 2009 at 10:37 I think these sauve and urbane protagonists of Islam have to be under more careful watch than the breast beating Gadaffi types whom the world has seen. These people have learnt their lessons. Having realised that loud mouthed defence of Islam and attacks on other communities attracts more ire than can it help the cause of Islam, now they have started speaking the language of the Liberals, sprinkled with more double speak. For a lay reader, the statement of Louay Safi seems perfectly harmless. The backgrounder provided in this article alone helps understand the spirit of his statement better. Physical threat of bullets and bombs are more easy to handle than the subtle, but persistent and tenacious attack on the psyche of fellow citizens. Gradually, these double-speaking Islamists might manage to change the outlook of a substantial number of people of a generation. But, a Leopard in sheep skin is still a Leopard.
