A Serious QuestionReader comment on item: Palestinians Blame Arab Leaders for the "Nakba" Submitted by Aymenn Jawad (United Kingdom), Jul 27, 2009 at 08:47 Dear Dr. Pipes: The Israeli historian Benny Morris recently released a book entitled 'The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem Revisited', which he talks about at http://www.logosjournal.com/morris.htm. Morris claims that Israeli forces expelled hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the 1948 war, but says that such actions were justified. Had it not occurred, he says, the Jewish state would never have come into being; he also sees Israel as the real victim in this entire conflict. My questions are thus: do you think Morris is lying about the causes of the Palestinian refugee problem? If yes, why would he lie about such events when he identifies with rather than opposes them?
