The alternative
Reader comment on item: Middle East Studies, Changing for the Better

It seems the alternative, that is the study of Islam in a non-islamist fashion is to do it in Israel. Professors like Kedar and Israeli study islam with a critial and academic eyes, rather than a proselytizing intention.
