Modern studiesReader comment on item: Middle East Studies, Changing for the Better Submitted by Ron George (United Kingdom), Jul 5, 2011 at 05:12 Reilly's book "The Closing of the Arab Mind" highlights the problem. Logic and rational thinking do not play a part in mainstream Islam. The blaming of the doctors for the deaths of patients injured by the authorities is a classic example. There is a host of modern Muslims that have been trained in the west that yearn for a reformation "Islah" in Islam but scratch deep enough and they too stand in that Asherite tradition, blaming others rather than themselves and Islam for its attitudes.
