HIs parents gave him such a name. - (religious or national ) struggle. It was important for the authorities who recruited him to investigate what kind of education and values did he receive at home form his parents. But American politicians and State Department are too stupid to know that, and are busy appeasing the Arabs.

It did not occur to them that 'Abu Nidhal' was the nicknmae of a head of a major terrorist organisation. 'Abu Nidhal' = the one for struggle.
