Geert and Dr. Pipes are RightReader comment on item: Talking Freely about the Enemy Submitted by GWK (United States), Feb 5, 2010 at 04:34 Geert Wilders says that there are no "moderate Muslims", and in the linked article, Dr. Pipes describes the Muslim push back to the Mongol occupation of much of Persia and Muslim Central Asia in the 13th C, which resulted in a call for jihad by "true Muslims". (International affairs students and security strategists need to become familiar with that period of Muslim philosophy and all of the history of Islam that preceded it.) Today, jihadis call themselves "true Muslims", and there are no groups of practicing Muslims who overtly stand up against the jihadists wreaking havoc and hatred on the internet and around the world. Why not? because there are none? Perhaps, but I tend to think because the moderates are scared. And a scared person who is unwilling to stand up for his principles gives a victory to those who frighten him. So if "moderate Muslims" exist, their own timidity makes them impotent and they become an insignificant factor. Perhaps the time will come when the extremists do something more egregious that everyone who professes to be a moral Muslim will reject them -- hardly likely as extremist propaganda seems more likely than ever and every mistake of an extremist leader is glossed over. Polygamy, pedophilia, rape and murder are all excused by the masses if an extremist leader is a good jihadi. Go figure!
