Another war is surely not the best option.Reader comment on item: Sarah Palin Endorses 'Bomb Iran' Submitted by Hans (Indonesia), Mar 1, 2010 at 18:46 First off, I would like to say that the situation is indeed a complex one. As you could see from Iraq, war are costly and do more damage than good. Therefore, diplomacy might be the answer after all. But this too, aren't so simple. Simply put, Iran as a Gov, wouldn't go into submission from any pressure put by the USA. Hence it may seems that a military action is the most viable way to have Iran case into a closure. But, that is exactly what the Iran Gov wanted. If any western power attacked Iran, then not only the Iranians would be agitated.. There will be a domino effect that may lead to a 3rd World War. Especially if what I feared the most happens that Pakistan, a country that is pretty unstable, would lose it control over it's nuclear arsenal to the extremist and they will wreak havoc. On the personal side, my beloved Indonesia and neighboring Malaysia would be in chaos if another strike to a Moslem based nation occurred. Malaysia filled with cunning extremists and Indonesia, sorry to say, filled with stupid loyalists.. The war on Iraq and the Gaza war nearly caused riots, another strike would make both govs fall into the hand of cunning extremists backed with stupid loyalist.. not a pretty combination. When the West alliance attacks Iraq, Moslems in my nations were agitated. However, the Iraq war didn't provoke the Indonesian people enough, to wage real military support thanks to Saddam bad rep and the theory that the westerners main reason was oil not religion. And so is the case with the war in Afghanistan, the talibans were hiding terrorists and those criminals(the terrorist) were a disgrace to every true Moslems. But the Gaza war, nearly put all nation with Moslems as a majority onto a chaotic state. Fortunately, reps from Palestine including Hamas folks says that it's not a religious war but a war for land ownership and they only need medical and food support. Back to Iran, the Iran govs stated that the west is the enemy both explicit and implicitly. Therefore, if a war should happen, then it will be promoted by them as a religious war. Then all hell will break loose. The middle east wouldn't be the only war zone.. riots everywhere.. and lets not forget that the terrorists would surely make the best from this event. Therefore, a war, wouldn't be a good option. Yes the best option is indeed diplomacy, but it wouldn't work without trust. And that might be what Obama wanted to build with the Moslem based nations, a sense that the west can be trusted enough to open and maintain a diplomacy outcome. But, from my humble opinion, I firmly believed that Obama start from the hard path. Because it is so much easier, at least for my country, to trust the Russians than USA. After all, Russia managed to stay relatively neutral between the mid-east and west since fall of Soviet. Bottom line, don't give in to Iran's provocation. Do remember that on every action there's a reaction both good and bad. Furthermore, befriend the Russian and or Chinese then ask their help with diplomatic effort for peace on mid-east and world. Wouldn't it be nice if all the super-power would joined hands together and try their best to find a peaceful solutions for all humankind lives in harmony? We all lived on the same planet that would suffer if war and violence continued to be the answer for all problems.
