Would you want to kill someone who is a Homosexual Apostate that commits adultery?Reader comment on item: Admitting Censorship due to Islamist Intimidation Submitted by CanadianChris (Canada), May 20, 2010 at 18:29 Regarding the less violent forms of 'Fasaad fi al ardh' -Homosexuality, while distatseful to many religious people, is not worthy of death in most civilized countries. -Leaving the faith of Islam and choosing to become an Atheist, is apostasy under most definitions, and while it make a person worthy to be excluded from the embrace of the religion, it is still not worthy of death in countries with civilized laws. In fact it is supposed to be a protected right under the U.N. declaration of Human Rights. -Finally, committing adultery, while a dishonorable act, is a choice between two consenting adults, and is not worthy of the death penalty in most civilized countries. It has emotional and financial consequences that are painful enough, without invoking capital punishment. When the various forms of Islam make broad proclamations regarding the non-violent responses to these and similar non-violent acts, and goes so far as to protect these people from violent punishment, that will be the day that Islam becomes a religion of peace to me. Until then, Islam in many(but not all) of its forms is a threat to the ideals of freedom of religion, freedom from violence, freedom from gender objectification(specifically, seeing women as property) and discrimination, and freedom to peacefully choose our adult sexual partners.
