Comparison with revenues from crimeReader comment on item: The Curse of Oil Wealth Submitted by Petrus C. van Duyne (Netherlands), May 21, 2010 at 18:17 I am doing research on crime-money and laundering. It is interesting to observe that all the fear about crime-money and laundering is so exagerated compared to monies from other bonanzas, like oil. The way these monies are spent, or rather spilled, hardly differs. The difference is that the purported effect of crime-money (particular drug money) on the economy and our financial system is much smaller that the effects of the money from oil or other financial windfall. And certainly much smaller that the multi-billion effects of the greed of the irresponsible banking top management. Still, we have a costly global anti-laundering regime.
