HAFEZ AND SYRIA, IS IT A DICTATORSHIP ?Reader comment on item: A Military Strike on Iran's Nuclear Infrastructure? Submitted by JACQUES HADIDA (United States), Jun 21, 2010 at 21:05 HELLO DANIEL, Having spent so much time studying Syria, I can suppose that you came to the conclusion that it is a dictatorship. Which leads me to substantiate that by using the famous phrase of a the Hungarian Literature Nobel Prize, Imre Kertesz who said: "Dictatorships are all the same. They attack the personality. They suppress the sense of responsibility and put people in impossible situations. One must write a stopry of hatred agains spirit." Che Gevara said it differently. "When dictatorship resorts to violence, it unmasks its true nature. Yet according to George Hahn, " it is a regimen where everyione says we live in a democracy" When will Syria's people wake up? It looks like they won't as this is the Arabian nature where Arab people love to be led, regardless of their intrinsic human interest. Thanks Daniel for your writings JACQUES HADIDA Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
