East & West PalestineReader comment on item: Arafat's Last Threat to Israel? Submitted by Hulegu Khan (United States), Nov 9, 2004 at 16:31 Divide and conquer, like East and West Pakistan. Israel can now finish the fence, call it a border, and become the first nation to stand up at the UN General Assembly and formally declare its recognition of the two independent Palestinian states. Once recognized as a state, any attacks on Israeli territory originating from the Palestinian side of the border becomes a foreign invasion under international laws of war and Israel will then have the right under article 51 of the UN Charter to use whatever military force it deems necessary to defend itself. If that means entire villages in Palestine reduced to rubble for each Qassam or Islamikaze incident, so be it.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
