Myth of Palestinian ArabsReader comment on item: Arafat's Last Threat to Israel? Submitted by Spadecaller (Australia), Apr 10, 2013 at 00:17 On the demise of the Ottoman empire at the hands of the British, the latter negotiated with Jews and Arabs with the view of allocating homelands to both. No group calling themselves Palestinians were present at the negotiating table, nor were the Jews accused of stealing anybody"s land. It was not until the 1960s that the Arab refugees from the 1948 war started calling themselves Palestinians, the indigenous occupants of the land of Israel since time immemorial Such a statement implies that the socalled Palestinians took all this time to realise that the land was stolen from them and that they were the erstwhile occupants. On the other hand, the proposition that Palestine never existed as a nation is wholly consistent with the facts.Whenever I engage others in debate about the matter,I always ask pertinent questions: When did Palestine come into existence? What was its currency? What was its Language?Who was its leader? Why have no archaeological Palestinian artifacts been unearthed? Why is Palestine not mentioned in any historical Document?Failure to satisfactorily answer these questions renders their position untenable.
