shifting subjectReader comment on item: CrossTalk on Middle East: Shifting sands Submitted by myth (Germany), Jan 24, 2011 at 11:14 Unfortunately the subject shifted away from Tunesia to general statements about US foreign policy. My impression was that nobody had some factual first-hand information about what has been going on in Tunesia. Dr Pipes even needed to declare he would rather talk about Tunesia. A sudden spark of common sense that disappeared into the darkness of tv-advertising. Strangely Tunesia was referred to as the wider Middle-East, I thought it was North-Africa. Measured traditionally from central Europe clearly south. What would italians on the island of Sicily say to that, are they northern-wider-middle-east now ?
