My discomfort

Dr. Pipes, every word you write about Qaddafi is true, including the "but"s and "maybe"s. Qaddafi was and is a thug, a pompous narcissist, and full of rodomontade.

However, I am no fan of the intervention in Libya. Neither side in the Libyan conflict is friendly to the USA, and I seriously doubt that anything resembling real politeia (the term Aristotle used for rle by the many for the public good) will come out of the Libyan revolt. The rebels in Tunisia have already started picking on one of the last Jewish communities in the Arab world, while those in Egypt have already started going after the Coptic Christians.
