THE DEMON OF THE MIDDLE EASTReader comment on item: Qaddafi's Empty Boast Submitted by Ilene Richman (United States), Apr 18, 2011 at 15:28 The fiend of the Middle East is Syria, leader Assad. Assad is the linchpin between Iran, Lebanon, Hezabollah and Hamas. The Syrian uprising should continue to rid Syria of the Assad family to usher in a democratic country (if this is possible). The Middle East bond can be broken if Assad is ushered out of power as Assad is attached to the Iranian dictatorship like a Siamese twin. Hopefully, this will start another uprising in Iran if Syria rids itself of Assad. Syria was instrumental in killing a whole Marine contingent (over 280 marines) sent in by Pres. Reagan. Libya is no angel either. But, Libya is not a linchpin in the Middle East. Ghaddifi is just a murderous human being, diabolically cruel. But bringing down Ghaddifi will not impinge upon an uprising of the Iranian people. Let the UN declare "war crimes" against Assad and let's see where he goes from there. Maybe this will register in his evil brain and force him to leave Syria. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
