Hi Dr. Pipes

As I predicted give the Muslim brotherhood some breathing space and they will make big time fools of themselves. And the turth is Egypt is not Iran and most Egyptian Muslims would want to have nothing to do with a strict Islamic state as in the case of Iran and the following is from watching the Egyptian media in the past few days

1. Bothaina Kamel (she is an Egyptian Muslim) who is really a very brave woman who used to be an anchor person on Egyptian TV and at one stage on Saudi TV is telling every one who is listening that she is a candidate for the presidency and the Muslim brotherhood do not like it! She wears a cross and a hilal to symbolize that Egypt is for all Copts as well as Muslims! She also did go to the district of Imbaba where el-salafiyeen attacked and burnt a Coptic Chruch and she did confront those thugs and she is also asking the military to prosecute them. She also has a web site called shayfinkum.com (Egyptian Arabic for we are watching you and she means by that watching those salafi thugs)

2. On the popular TV show al-qahira al-yawm Amr Adeeb the host confronted a leader of el-ikhwan (Muslim brothehood) and did ask him many questions about would Egypt becomes another Iran? and would el-ikhwan stop tourism to Egypt? and would they get rid of the historical treasures of Egypt? and would the Copts pay the Jizya? and would women have to wear at least el-hijab? and in typical ikhwani fashion the answers were yes and no and may be and only allahu a3lam

3. On the fun side: I suspact that the longer Egyptians wait for more elections the more likely that el-ikhwan will make fools of themselves and indeed el-libraliyeen (the liberals and read this as the secularists) are after them and in response to the recent facebook campaign by el-ikhwan and they named it:

hamlat li-itlaq milion lehya qabl ramadan or the movment for growing a million beards before ramadan

http://www.facebook.com/milion.soni

In response to it the liberals have their own campaign and they called it

hamlat milion bikini ded milion lehya or the campaign of the million bikini against the million beards
