Washington Post's naivete is hurtingReader comment on item: Is the Solution to Hire More Muslim Journalists? Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 3, 2011 at 02:08 Dear Dr Pipes: You are very kind when you say that Phillip Bennet's suggestion that about hiring more Muslims as journalists is naive. In reality, it is ignorant and it is hurting. A lot of us know a lot about each other's religions and it is not because some of us were hired as journalists so we could teach others about our religions. I know about many Islamic journalists in India and even the most liberal of them is an apologist. And America's own Farid Zakaria is no better. I see only one advantage if many Muslims become journalists: When you become a journalist, you need to educate yourself at least in the area about which you are reporting. And any education opens the mind a little bit. If there are more muslim journalist, their minds will be opened a bit more. And same is true if more muslims become scientists, philosophers, sportspeople, engineers and such. But still there is no need for the world to hire more muslims as journalist so we could be educated by them about Islam. Islam is what Islam does and Islam does nothing for anyone except itself! Let alone that, Islam never speaks for any one but itself. Hiring more journalists is not going to solve any problem. Sites like yours which expose Islamic contradictions over and over again will solve the problem.
