The Price of Democracy of Whatever

Reader comment on item: Arab Spring, Muslim Winter

A light shined in Dr Pipes discussion is how the United States squares being for democracy yet then live with elected radical results. The answer is the United States should not stand for simple democracy. It should stand for democracy that must include wide freedoms, free voice, all peaceful interpertations of religions, surrounding coexistance and repeated fair elections. We should never stand for "democracy of whatever" either abroad or at home. At home we have democracy wed to a thoughtful constitution. But if a radical hostile government is fairly elected in any part of the world, then our policy should be,- you people elect, you people bear responsibility .Its the price of democracy in all seasons.
