Revisiting the Arab UpheavalReader comment on item: Arab Spring, Muslim Winter Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Dec 5, 2011 at 16:14 Not having had any exchange with Mr. Zala for quite some time, it remains to be seen how the presumptions of the 'Arab Upheaval' are now viewed in more focus as it becomes more apparent that the true reasons for the unrest were not for the sake of democracy, but for radicalizing the reticence of the modern moderate Muslim sentiment in order to make a stronger stand against the western societal influences that the shari'a mentality requires. The situation is not revised from a radicalized Muslim perspective; they have always had the idea they need to become re-aligned in unison (movement toward ummah) in order to continue the cause against democracy.
