agree and disagreeReader comment on item: Obama's Leftist Conundrum Submitted by Gary Josephson (United States), Dec 21, 2011 at 10:50 Garry and I agree on one thing. I do not understand how Mr. Pipes interprets the second paragraph. After that, he begins his ... conclusions about Obama apparently criticising those who who won't call evil what it is. Standing up for Western Civilization is something I agree with, but part and parcel of that civilization is not calling everything about another culture automatically evil or even if it is evil it makes no political sense to attack every aspect of an "alien" culture even while staying aware of its dangers. If I read Mr. Pipes correctly that is usually where he seems to sit. Sensible solutions from awareness would seem to make attacks or valid critisism less general and more specific. Your attack is faulted (by me) because it is so general and in policy disputes where even strong criticism is appropriate it needs to be more focused. In conclusion, even if you are right in your conclusions they contribute nothing to solutions. If I wanted to hear constant insinuations of general denouncements I could tune into rant radio. Left or right they want only war with (the enemy) with no solutions short of anarchy. Recently, on Democracy Today (leftist talk) I heard their conversation about North Korea where it was implied all through that the suffering there was America's fault. But the same type of nonsense is the "blame" Obama movement on right wing radio. To be more clear and not use weasel words it is not a blame movement it is a "hate" movement and my appeal to conservatives or liberals is to be aware that many these people are a danger to the Republic and we need, not at all, their blanket denunciations, but a solid non-ideological (or at least a less-ideological) middle to solve most of the problems we face as a country or civilization.
