Reader comment on item: Why the Japanese Internment Still Matters

Submitted by Amiris Reynoso (United States), Jan 4, 2005 at 21:08

Mr Pipes, I admire your sense of responsibility and your simple ways of explaining things.
While I disagree with Internment Camps in general, I believe that what happened in this country to the Japanese during WWII was right and necessary.

Today we are facing a bigger threat to our security, our way of life and our future and those of our children and grandchildren. If we are to fight terrorism to the best of our abilities we MUST use every tool available, and the number one priority of our security forces should be to know who every Arab-Muslim person is, where they live, what they do for a living, who they associate themselves with, what kind of ties they have, and any other detail about them, no matter how small it might seem. As you can see, I wrote person, not just male, because, they all should be treated the same, they use men, women and children to kill our American brothers\sisters and any other citizens that are not themselves, they even kill their own people.

People like the local Bainbridge Island school board president, Bruce Weiland, from Bainbridge Island, Washington and any other citizen in this country that does the things he does and who tries to teach our children that our government is to blame for what happened to the Japanese and who defends the murderous Arab fanatics the way he does, should be deeply investigated by our government. Only God knows what kind of agenda he has. ...
