The "Impossible" Dream of "Present Absentees."Reader comment on item: "Eventually, All Humans Will Be Palestine Refugees" Submitted by Isa Almisry (United States), Mar 11, 2012 at 01:18 "Israel, which suffers from....persons whose lives are truncated and distorted by an impossible dream of return to their great grandparents' houses." What an incredibly odd statement for the dream of Herzel to "return" to the homeland of his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents, 2224 kilometers from his own birthplace. If his ancestors were ever there (many Jews in Hungary claimed Khazar ancestry). Yeah, that makes perfect sense, especially when most of the Palestinians live in neighboring lands and not another continent, or even in Palestine itself. As about much sense as the status of "present absentee" ( נוכחים נפקדים), one given to those that Herzel's state gave once UNRWA honored its request to take responsibility to register the refugees within the Green Line, a status that also is inherited, although the original bearer might have only gone across town to avoid the fighting, and might have a court decision from the "Israel High Court" recognizing their right of residence, unrecognized by the military administration, and they were, even if recognized, under millitary rule and administration like the rest of the Palestinians (except the Druze) "citizens" 1948-1966.
