A delicate matter

Every citizen of a country has a right to free speech or to silence according to democratic governance. So I cannot fault a person who refuses to ally themselves or identify with the sentiments of the state. That said, an elected official represents more than just a citizen of the country and thus bears a greater responsibility in representing his or her constituents in the system.
