Islamic Comix Harmful?Reader comment on item: Islam's Cartoon Missionaries Submitted by Dan Rusen (Canada), Apr 17, 2012 at 15:29 Canadian Jews (and others) growing up in the fifties and sixties were constantly faced with Christian propaganda. Our schools celebrated Hallowe'en, Christmas, and Easter. We also read stories of Christian heroes such as Jean Brebeuf, William Osler, and Jeanne d' Arc. Our ninth grade world history book had a single paragraph on the Holocaust. We even had the odd teacher who actively proselytized in the public schools. We also said the (Christian) Lord's Prayer every day. Our schools in my area were about 25% Jewish, but still many of us were drafted into the Christmas carol choir. It didn't matter. We knew who we were and all of us grew up without assimilating, although admittedly... traditional Jewish ways were largely ignored. Christian propaganda was also aimed at American kids who watched Roy Rogers, Fulton Sheen, Billy Graham, and a dozen classical Christmas movies (many produced by and starring Jews). Anyone not know the song "White Christmas"? There' s one difference today though that doesn't pass the smell test - sponsorship. Which "Islamic investment bank" put 15.9 million dollars into a comic book? Wow! Surely there's more to this story than appears on the surface. However it's doubtful that this comic will have much impact on any kids but Muslims. But I notice that the female superheroes aren't exactly drawn in correct Islamic dress, are they?
