My reply to Mr. M ToveyReader comment on item: Israel's Arabs, Living a Paradox Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Apr 25, 2012 at 23:45 Dear Mr. Tovey, Thanks for your prompt reply. Before I reply to you please let us again go back to the question of biblical laws. I request you for the sake of argument to please stick to biblical points rather than on political and secular mundane topics like the long-forgotten American embassy episode in 1979. 1. Regarding the biblical prohibition of homosexuality as an unnatural act , I again mention that the Islamic republic of Iran is the one which regularly tries to upheld the biblical position within its borders. There are very strict laws to punish homosexuality in Iran at all levels and they are enforced despite huge pressure from outside World which includes your Judeo-Christian nation of birth. So by all accounts , Iran is steadfastly upholding the Biblical laws and injunctions regarding homosexuality and I believe you should be able to consider the tremendous sacrifices Iranian leadership have had to go through to upheld the biblical injunctions of homosexuality. 2. Regarding the matter of interest , Iran is trying its best to uphold the biblical laws here. I would say the recent Western-led sanctions on Iran whereby Iran has been virtually cut off from the global system of trade. I would say this is a blessing in disguise for the Islamic republic from a biblical viewpoint. This allows Iran to promote alternative forms of trade and commerce which do not require banking transactions or interest rates. Already Iran is proposing to its still-around trading partners to do business through barter trading i.e. Iran will sell its oil and in exchange it will get same amount of goods. This is the only biblically acceptable practice of doing commerce which only Iran is having courage to perform. 3. Regarding the allegation that Iran wants to wipe Israel from the map , I must say that this is a fictional story circulated for propaganda purpose. Very recently a top Israeli official Dan Meridor accepted on public television that President Ahmedinajad of Iran never ever said anything which implies wiping Israel from the face of the earth. So I believe this is a just rebuttal of your argument right there that Iran has hostile intentions against Israel. I must mention that it is Iran which has worked tremendously to bring peace and stability to the troubled war torn nation of Lebanon as well as in Iraq. Now in both these two cases the role of countries like your Judeo-Christian nation of birth can easily be said anything but for "peacemaking". So it is very clear that as Jesus said "blessed are the peacemakers" , Iran is surely more worthy of being blessed by the Almighty than your Judeo-Christian exceptional nation of Birth. ... publish my present argument in favor of Iran , I would eagerly await your opinions on my positions.
