Good points but a bit optimistic in looking back from today

It is fascinating to read Dr Pipes' observations back before political Islam became a daily topic in the news and western society. His words could be applied to what is happening today, and the details are eerily prescient, save for the idea that Islamics would not unite. Since political Islam has evolved over the past decade, the internet and other modern technologies have allowed a unification of goals that is a scary development. These Muslims share similar hatred for the west, similar values about women and civil rights and similar desire for revenge against their perceived wrongs against brothers. How far this will go and with what consequences, only time will tell. Europe will be the first bastion to test.
