Yes Saddam is Evil, But so are many othersReader comment on item: Saddam's Rap Sheet Submitted by Bob Mathley (United States), Aug 20, 2002 at 12:16 I completely agree Saddam is evil, as most of the world does. But where do we get off making premptive strikes? Are we the world's arbiter and keeper? Did god, whoever and whatever that is, die and appoint us supreme? We may not like what goes on in Iraq these days, we may also not agree with what goes on in Pakistan. The differences, Pakistan now has weapons of mass destruction and have at the least turned the other way to the Wahhabi Muslim's setting the stage for the Taliban and Sept 11th; in fact have allowed extremists to operate in their country and may well be harboring Bin Laden himself as we speak. Do we have the right or obligation to take out the Pakistan regime? Or as they are allowing use of their country as a military launching pad and taking our money allowing them grace in this period. That sounds a lot like Saddam's early days with the Nixon/Ford/Kissinger group. Should we expect similar results in 20-30 years, I could cite time after time the US, democrats and republicans both have tried to buy countries or impose our will with harsh results. It is clear to me the colonialism will not work! However it does make the rich and famous feel powerful!! When are we as a society going to practice what we preach; let countries be sovereign and make decisions for them? We do not have to like those decisions and they do not have to support our best interests. In fact they have no obligation to consider the US interests, I speak of any other sovereign country. With our (Americans) insatiable need for money and power, I would draw the conclusion never!!
