Kuffar

Kuffar does not mean unclean or impure. Kuffar is the plural of kafir which is a person who is in kufr. The word's root means "to cover" or "to hide" and not dirty. In the context of the Quran it refers to pagan Arabs for attempts at hiding or covering the religion of Islam. It does not refer to Jews or Christians as the Quran refers to them as yahud and nasrani, respectively.
