It doesn't matter and I'll tell you whyReader comment on item: Rooting for Jalili Submitted by john w mcginley (United States), Jun 17, 2013 at 12:33 Your point is well taken. Given the theo-cratic regime, who becomes the "President" of Iran does not really matter. Better to have a straight-forward representative of the theo-cratic ((and anti-Israel and anti-USA)) regime than a facade. But you ignore the far bigger problem. As long as we have Obama as President nothing serious is going to occur to stop Iran from "going nuclear." The leaders of Israel are well aware of this and it puts them between the proverbial "rock and a hard-place." The only sure way for Israel to check-mate the Iranian nuclear threat is to have the "Bunker-Busting" bombs which can penetrate the underground production of nuclear warheads. Odds are great that the present American Administration will not supply Israel with this option without which no pre-emptive strike could be effective. This. in turn, would require that Israel would then have to knock-out the whole electricity network in Iran. This will cause IMMENSE hardship on ordinary Iranians; and, Israel will be looked upon as the massive killer of civilians. It would be an immensely difficult decision for Netanyahu to make. On balance, It seems to me that Israel MUST take the hit in the "court of world opinion" or cease to exist. The Obama Presidency, especially with regard t foreign policy, is incompetent. But to put Israel in the situation of having to visit wholesale suffering on the Iranian people for Israel to survive is really criminal on the part of Obama.
