The side effectsReader comment on item: Obama to Save Presidency by Bombing Iran? Round Two Submitted by Anon (United States), Jun 29, 2013 at 14:14 Did the gamble to get Bin Laden in Pakistan change Republican's views of him? I don't think it did but in any case he should be doing what he thinks is best - that is why we elect leaders. I liked Bush for his courage of conviction - he had his strategies but they didn't work but so what? He was honest and courageous and paid the price he was asked to. Obama should take the course of action he thinks is best for the country now that there is no pressure of re-election. This is why we have a President. I am an Israel supporter and also pro-Obama. I think bombing Iran would be fine if there are no side effects but suppose it gets botched and they require a ground operation to finish the job, how many Americans have the appetite for that? And lets not pretend that anything Obama does will "prompt Republicans to work with Democrats". One only has to look at the long faces of disappointment on so many Republicans' faces when Bin Laden was killed to realize that all they want is for Obama to fail, period. Their salvation lies in them opposing Obama on everything.
