What price glory?Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Release of 104 Palestinian Murderers Submitted by Rebecca Ellen Moulds (United States), Jul 27, 2013 at 21:13 Many of us are wondering how Netanyahu came to the (erroneous) decision to release 104 prisoners as a good-will gesture leading up to the (ho hum) peace talks. Such a move seems like posturing on a grand scale as well as the lunacy that Danny Danon has called it. Fortunately, people in the know realize that Israel can make decisions on its own without US intervention. Former Editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post Jeff Barak wrote in the July 5-11, 2013 nternational Jerusalem Post (Can Netanyahu Break Old Habits): "Some commentators are already forecasting an Ariel Sharon-like moment for Netanyahu, in which the prime minister throws off the ideological shackles of his party and sets out in a new direction involving the evacuation of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and the unitlateral drawing of temproary borders until a final peace deal can be achieved." So it seems that releasing prisoners is only part of Netanyahu's agenda. Let's hope this never comes to fruition.
