Election reform idea to minimize the impact of failing administrationsReader comment on item: Obama's Diplomatic Acrobatics Submitted by PezDispenser (Israel), Sep 12, 2013 at 04:47 I suggest getting rid of the two-term circus and creating instead a single six year term (similar to the Senate but with no option for re-election). This way the downside of an awful administration will be mitigated by two years and the country spares itself from an expensive and distracting intermediate election season. At worst, a competent or even terrific administration will have two years less in office and get done 80% of what it set out to do in six years rather than eight. One could say that a poor performing or mediocre administration may lose after the first term, but in retrospect there seems to be a significant incumbent advantage regardless of party affiliation.
