How soon we forgetReader comment on item: Can Hezbollah and Hamas Be Democratic? Submitted by Darwin Barrett (United States), Mar 23, 2005 at 11:45 Around 1920 The communist intellectuals began pushing their way into western education, supported by well meaning but naive conservatives who supported divergent views. Now a conservative can barely get a voice in western education. Totalitarians do what totalitarians do. They disguise their intent, motive, and plan, and outwardly conform until they get enough power to take over. The Plan is in the Islamic Manifesto, supported by 1400 years of oral and written traditions. Islam cannot become democratic without completly negating the Qur'an and Haddith. Something etched in stone in Heaven, in Arabic, and revealed by "God" through an "Angel" to the Final Messenger can't change without a new revelation and a new messenger. Convincing 1.3 billion people that they have a new revelation and a new messenger would take another 1400 years. It's not going to happen. Islam is here to stay, and it is a totalitarian theocratic system. Theocracy and democracy are polar opposites.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
