A potent enemy of Sunni Islam and Islamists is the likes of Sheikh احمد القبانجي or Ahmad el-QabanjeeReader comment on item: The Threat of Islamism Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Nov 17, 2013 at 16:29 Dr. Pipes I want to bring to your attention this very interesting Shia Shiekh and his name is احمد القبانجي or Ahmad el-Qabanjee and here is his wikipedia page I would place him in the same class as المعتزلة or al-Mu3tazila or those that early on in the history of Islam declared that the Qur'an is a book at a point in time and that it is far from being a perfect book He approaches the Qur'an and the Islamic tradition in the same logical way that one only witness among the top Shia clerics the likes of the late Ali Dashti And here is a youtube video where he applies the tools of literary criticism to Surat al-Rahman which by the way has always been an embarrassing sura to Muslims and the reason is because it does not make any sense and it has the infamous Quranic literary disaster called al-Kalam al-Mukarrar or الكلام المكرر or Allah is in the habit of repeating himself ad nauseum And here is his youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry5lwfeDqgI And here is an example of what he is saying It says in Q55:1-3 55:1 الرحمان 55:2 علم القران 55:3 خلق الانسان Or al-Rahman or the beneficient He taught the Qur'an (He) created the human being So he is saying that does not make sense after all it must be He created the human being THEN taught him the Qur'an and he views this as no more than poor literature that no real, God would ever compose And here is another youtube video and the subject is Gabriel is a liar and the Qur'an is one of his lies and no I'm not kidding you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q6mqBP3rE4 Yes I realize that Shia clerics are much more erudite than Sunni clerics and much more open to the idea of taking a critical look at the Qur'an as a literary text but he goes one more step and he takes Sunni Islam to task as the source of the decline of Islam and for terrorism againt not just his own people the Shia but also against the non Muslim world and he calls Sunni Islam deen al-Sulta or the religion of power/imperialism and he calls Shia Islam as Deen al-Mu3arada or the religion of opposition (to Sunni Islam) And here are his articles in the liberal web site al-Hiwar al-Mutamaden where he examines Islam and secularism and democracy and does not leave anything untouched http://www.ahewar.org/m.asp?i=5933 I really do believe that there has always been a schism between Shia and Sunni Islam but this is really coming to a head from a very unlikely source and that is the Shia clerics who view Sunni Islam as evil and the source of today's terrorism in places like Iraq and Syria Submitting....
