You missed the PointReader comment on item: The Worrisome Future of Special Operation Forces Submitted by Todd (United States), Mar 25, 2014 at 15:15 Most SOF are superman, in that MARSOT, SEALS, Rangers, and JSOC all conduct various forms of Direct Action (kill capture). Although Special Forces (Green Berets) makes up the largest single pool of Special Operations Forces (SOF) operators and are well versed in Direct Action, they in fact conduct combat and non-combat operations since their founding in 1952; by, with, and through the indigenous people whether that be conducting Unconvential Warfare on horseback as they did in the fall of 2001 or COIN via Village Stability Operations in Afghanistan or Foreign Internat Defense (JCETs). If Special Forces is conducting Direct Action as it was primarily from 2004 - 2008 in Afghanistan, then it means there are simply not enough troops to allow Special Forces to apply their true skillset. Iraq became the main effort if we remember. You see Special Forces are NOT superman, but rather like Daniel Boone, using their training and God given ingenuity to train, assist, and advise. And you can bet that on any given day Special Forces is conducting JCETs around the globe in numerous countries doing its thing in cross-cultural relations.
