Blame Bush

Former President George W. Bush and his clueless Secretary of State, Condi Rice, bear a lot of the blame for the Turkish debacle. They, with the help of the EU, are the ones who naively pushed for democratization of the Islamic countries and encouraged the Turkish civilian authorities to crack down on the Kemalist military. As a result, we now have an anti-Western Islamist government running corrupt and unfair elections.
