Categorical error.Reader comment on item: ISIS Is Not Islamic? Submitted by Gary Mullennix (United States), Sep 11, 2014 at 16:50 If someone repeatedly errs in identifying a problem or opportunity and instead categorises it as another, the likelihood is quite high, nigh certain, that the problem or opportunity will be wrongly acted upon. Saying that the Islamic State isn't Islam is similar to saying that those who handle poisonous serpents as they believe the bible instructs them to do are not Christian. Will Islam, the opportunity to show to them and the rest of the world that there are tenets of Islam which condone and support this barbarism. Killing every ISIS devotee will not change the Islamic belief system. Calling ISIS for what it is and having everyone including all other Islamists seeing clearly what can happen to religious Islamic adherents could have a chance of causing some long needed changes in the way that Islam is taught and accepted. Is it is, Islam is forgotten and were merely involved in trying to kill and suppress the movement...and history has proven that such a strategy won't work. The pagan world tried for 200-300 years to do that to the Christian movement. In the early 300's, Constantine had to accept Christianity as the power it had become and moved to the head of the rapidly growing religion. Thus was born the Holy Roman Empire. People are pretty easy to kill...ideas are not. Islam can only be intellectually dealt with. How to convince 1.3billion people to make the needed changes?
