A question from a Russian reposting of this articleReader comment on item: Hunger Growls in Egypt Submitted by Peter Chew (United States), Oct 21, 2014 at 12:27 I forwarded the Russian version of this article to my friend Vasily Trubchik in Belarus (connecting the dots to the prophecy of Isaiah 19 about Egyptians fighting against Egyptians and the Nile drying up). My friend posted it on his blog. Vasily raised the following question in his blog post: "Только специалисты по истории Египта могут сказать было ли в истории этого государства что-либо подобное, о чем говорит пророк Исаия" ("Only Egypt specialists can say whether anything similar to what Isaiah talked about has happened in Egypt's history" - my translation) I would be interested to hear whether Daniel Pipes can think of a time in Egypt's history which better fits the description of Isaiah 19, especially verses 1-10. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: I do not have the competence to interpret the Bible in terms of today's events.
