The Samson optionReader comment on item: An Arab Prince Denounces Islamism Submitted by Michael S (United States), Dec 23, 2014 at 09:08 Hi, Daniel Yes, I read the twitters. There seems to be agreement among them, that the Europeans are aiding and abetting the Muslims against Israel. I may have over-stated my case, concerning your and the readers' dealing with the European threat. Let me re-phrase it a little: The European danger to Israel exists, and is growing, irrespective of any Muslim attacks on Israel or Muslim influence in the West. Perhaps the Europeans use imagined Israeli "atrocities" as justification for their over-sized hatred of the Jewish state; but they likely would have come to their anti-Israel stance even if there were no Muslims in the world. There is a spiritual phenomenon happening in the world today, to be sure: One element of it, is a historical revisionism in both Europe and Japan, denying the atrocities committed against the Jews and Chinese, respectively, during the 1930s and 40s. You realize, of course, that the Germans did not act single-handedly against the Jews. Not only did they have willing accomplices among the Lithuanians, Ukrainians, etc., in killing them; but every country in the world, except perhaps the Dominican Republic, had its hand in denying the Jews a place of refuge in the face of certain death. After World War II ended in defeat for the Axis Powers, there were tribunals of "war criminals", reparations and other rituals, Now there seems to be a recoiling against the feelings of guilt from those times, and an effort to portray the victims of the crimes as perpetrators. Yes, to be sure, there is something happening in the spirit here; but whatever the reason for it, Europe is intensely anti-Jewish and anti-Israel nowadays. This is reflected in the UNGA resolutions condemning Israel, which have taken up most of the UN agenda throughout its existence. In years past, the Europeans often stood with Israel, especially stalwart friends of the US such as the UK. Nowadays, though, the EU countries generally vote against Israel or abstain. It is only US, Canadian and Micronesian support in the GA, and the US veto in the UNSC, that have restrained the UN from passing resolutions calling for the destruction of the Jewish state. I don't doubt for a minute, that Israel needs to be continually vigilant against physical attacks upon it by its neighbors. As they pertain to the European threat, thought, all these Islamist theatrics are a smoke-screen that covers up the very real danger lurking just across the Mediterranean. When the US negotiates the Transatlantic Partnership with the EU, the anti-Israel forces will suddenly loom over Israel, apparently unbeatable; and there will be an attempt to cow Israel into joining the Gentiles in far more than an economic sense. This is what Israel ultimately needs to prepare for, with the Samson option.
